LEGISLATIVE DEPARMTENT

OFFICE OF THE SANGGUNIANG BAYAN

MANDATE:

The Sangguniang Bayan, as the legislative body of the municipality, shall enact ordinances, approve resolutions and appropriate funds for the general welfare of the municipality and its inhabitants pursuant to Section 16 of this Code and in the proper exercise of the corporate powers of the municipality as provided for under Section 22 of this Code of the Local Government Code (Art. 3, Sec. 447, par (a) of the LGC 1991)

FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT:

  1. To approved ordinances and pass resolutions necessary for an efficient and effective municipal government.
  2. To generate and maximize the use of resources and revenues for the development plans, program, objective and priorities of the municipality and provide for under Section 18 of the Local Government Code with particular attention to agro-industrial development and countryside growth and progress.
  3. Subject to the provision of Book of the same code, grant franchises, enact ordinances authorizing the issuances of permits or licenses, or ordinances levying taxes, fees and charges upon such conditions and foe such intended to promote the general welfare for the inhabitants of the municipality.
  4. To regulated activities relative to the use of land, building, and structures within the municipality on order to promote the general welfare of the people.
  5. To approve ordinance which shall ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the basic services and facilities as provided for under Section 17 of the same code.
  6. To conduct an investigation as a quasi-judicial body on a complaint against erring barangay official as provided doe under Chapter 4 of RA 7160.
  7. To exercise such powers and performs such other functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.

MISSION STATEMENT: 

Towards the vision, governance shall equip with the capacity to sustainably manage their resources, deliver basic social needs and enhance their opportunities towards nation building in accordance to the objective of the millennium development goal to achieve peace and human security.

  1. To serve as a policy-making body of the Local Government;
  2. To assist, the Local Chief Executive in the efficient implementation of policies and programs adopted in line with the national objectives.
